Dr. Irene Vergilis-Kalner, MD, FAAD, FACMC

Irene J. Vergilis-Kalner, M.D. is widely recognized for her expertise and innovative work in skin lasers, cosmetic dermatology, facial rejuvenation techniques, and Mohs micrographic surgery. Dr. Vergilis-Kalner is board-certified by the American Board of Dermatology and has treated patients and trained physicians in the use of cutting-edge technologies and surgical treatments. Under her direction, Procedural Dermatology Center has been a pioneer in making advanced skin laser technologies, cosmetic dermatology procedures, and Mohs micrographic surgery widely accessible to patients.

Dr. Vergilis-Kalner received her medical degree with highest honors from the Boston University School of Medicine. Prior to her dermatology residency, she completed a dermatology research fellowship at the New York University School of Medicine. She then completed her internship in internal medicine at Long Island Jewish Medical Center of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Vergilis-Kalner completed her dermatology training at the University of Chicago Medical Center, one of the nation’s leading dermatology residency programs. She subsequently completed a one-year fellowship in Mohs micrographic surgery and procedural dermatology, focusing on skin cancer treatment as well as dermatologic laser and cosmetic surgery, at DermSurgery Associates, affiliated with Weill Cornell Medical College and Methodist Hospital, under the direction of Dr. Leonard H. Goldberg, an internationally recognized leader in the field. She serves as Director of Mohs and Cosmetic Surgery at the New York Medical College.

Dr. Vergilis-Kalner has been invited to lecture at the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery, as well as other national and international professional societies. She has received multiple awards for her basic science and clinical research, co-authored numerous peer-reviewed publications, and contributed to several academic textbooks. She also serves as an editor for a prestigious dermatology journal.

Dr. Vergilis-Kalner’s special interests include Mohs Micrographic Surgery for the treatment of melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancers, as well as facial reconstructive and aesthetic surgery. She has extensive experience in laser treatments for sun-damaged and aging skin, pigmentary disorders, skin tightening procedures, stretch marks, leg veins, acne, hair removal, and tattoo removal. She also has expertise with a variety of injectable treatments for relaxing facial muscles, filling wrinkles, and facial sculpting, including Botox, Restylane, Juvederm, Perlane, Radiesse, and Sculptra.
